March 2022    Hello out there!   It's been a little while since I have updated this site!   So much has happened in the last couple few years, but we are still here and ready to make some more music!   I have a 2 new projects that are READY TO RECORD!!!   I have a whole album of original Kentucky country music and also a concept album of Freedom Songs and Heroes that I wrote during the pandemic.

I am looking into financing these projects so we can get into the studio as soon as possible.    I appreciate you all taking the time to check in on me, and look forward to be out playing music for the folk again, real soon!

Love always,

KD

JULY 2019

Howdy Friends and Neighbors!  Summertime is scorching and I hope everyone is somewhere cool and comfortable.   I am over here just happy as can be to finally have my new whole order of OH, KENTUCKY- and in it's new official release form!  Yes, I was in a hurry last summer and also moving across the state while trying to make final decisions about the finishing up of OH, KENTUCKY : A Kentucky Country Music Sampler.  Well, I just couldn't get happy with it in that order, and have redone the whole thing to be the release I intended: an uplifting compilation of Kentucky songs and ballads that I perform, mixed with a few that I wrote.  I did this because I have a whole record of original country songs that I am ready to record, as well as a whole album of country gospel that I am ready to record.  I am planning to use the money from the sales of Oh, Kentucky to get started on these new projects, and now that I am ready to start to get out and playing again after a couple few years hiatus from higher volume public performances, I will be able to get out and properly promote the record.  I only sold and gave out a few because of the short first order of CD's, but anyone that obtained one previously- holler to me and I'd love to send you the new one!!  Thanks so much for being a friend of Kentucky music.  -  KD

May 2019

Hello friends!  Just wanted to say howdy and tell anyone passin thru. that we are getting ready to order a whole big batch of CD's.  I appreciate everyone who has supported us and bought or listened to the record so far.  We made a short order of them to test the waters and decide what to do with it exactly.  Hope to see you soon.  Getting ready to come out of hibernation to support this record and acquire funds to start the next one! We'll be getting them to radio stations soon as well, so let us know about the radio groups that need a copy of OH, KENTUCKY!!

Thank you!!

KD

More about CCMMS: Cowan Creek Mountain Music School a small, close-knit group that gathers here each year—some of the country’s finest old-time musicians, and students of all ages and levels – to celebrate our rich mountain heritage of lively tunes, heart-felt singing, spirited square dancing and storytelling.

Whether you’re an absolute beginner or accomplished musician, eight years old or eighty, you’ll have the opportunity to dig deep into the rich repertoire of Kentucky music and gain experience playing with other musicians.

Mountain music has been passed down through the generations as young learners listened to and played along with their older family members and neighbors. In keeping with this tradition, classes are taught in call and response, rather than written music. Whatever your age or level, this will improve your ear for music, and help you join in the fun of playing with other musicians from the get-go!
